Origin

Plastic Mans criminal

Plastic Mans Criminal Tendencies

Patrick “The Eel” O’Brian, was a smalltime crook in Kite Man’s gang. During a raid on a chemical factory the gang encountered Batman. In the fight that followed, Patrick was knocked into a vat of chemicals. He was saved from death by Batman who is shown in the flashback as standing over his beside in the hospital concerned. Patrick helped testify against Kite Man in court and Batman promised the parole board that he’d oversee Patrick’s rehabilitation. With the new ability to stretch his body into any shape or form, Plastic Man went to help Batman fight crime.

He helped Batman against many villains over the years such as Gorilla Grodd, Gentleman Ghost and Babyface. He is one of the heroes who are trying to capture Batman who was being impersonated by Owlman. Although he doesn’t fare much better than his fellow heroes he is often completely humiliated as it seemed that he would have certainly caught him. Green Arrow even goes as far as to call him an idiot, although in the episode Death Race to Oblivion they seem to bee on good terms. In that Episode Plastic Man is shown to have a bumbling sidekick name Woozy Winks. He is also one of the heroes that Dr. Fate borrowed the powers from to fight equinox in the episode The Fate of Equinox.

Personality and Traits

Although he was supposed to be reformed, Plastic Man still had many criminal tendencies. For instances when he and Batman are confronting Gentleman Ghost who has committed a robbery, Batman breaks the Gentleman Ghost’s bags holding the stolen cash Plastic Man goes after the money instead of fighting. When infiltrating Gorilla Grodd’s hideout to save Batman he is distracted by Gordd’s stolen gold and diamonds and delays going after Batman to take some for himself.
