History
Origin
An extortionist adopted the motif of his hobby and became Fisherman. He wears a pressurized scuba suit and uses a titanium fishing rod outfitted with a durable polymer line. Fisherman is able to yield this rod with perfect accuracy and can catch any target or attack with special weaponized lures. Since his many schemes are water-based, Fisherman is a constant enemy of Aquaman.
In "A Rescue on Rainbow Reef," Fisherman held a group of scientists hostage in their own research submarine by dangling them above an undersea magma vent with a giant fishing pole. When the government refused to pay the ransom, Fisherman was about to kill them but Aquaman arrived with Imp, Storm, and Fluke at his side. They defeated Fisherman and Aquaman summoned nearby whales to save the scientists at the last minute. Some time later, Fisherman infiltrated Atlantis and tried to steal the Observometer from Batman. In fear of getting his third strike, he was aided by the Joker and escaped capture.
