"The world's strangest and perhaps greatest heroes, the Doom Patrol!"

Each member of the Doom Patrol was found and brought together by Dr. Niles Caudler, a brilliant scientist who was confined to a wheel chair after an accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. Convincing these outcasts to use their new powers to help humanity, Caudler mentored the team in their many adventures, and helped them adjust to their conditions. The Doom Patrol's arch-enemies are the Brain and his henchmen the Brotherhood of Evil.

The Doom Patrol appear in the episode, The Last Patrol!. In the episode they are shown to be a group of misfits with a loyal fan base among the younger generation. They had many adventures until a woman was killed in a hostage situation at the Tragedy of Paris because of them. The team disbanded but reformed 9 years later thanks to the villainous scheming of the mastermind behind the tragedy of Paris General Zahl who also captured Batman. Zahl placed the Patrol on one island full of explosives and forced them to make a choice. They could save another island with a mere fourteen people or they could save themselves. Ultimately, the Doom Patrol decided to save the other island and sacrifice themselves. Batman was able to destroy the detonators but Zahl revealed that they were just decoys and pressed the real detonator killing the Doom Patrol. However, the heart of the Doom Patrol continued to live on among the people of the world and Zahl slumped down in defeat saying that even in death they had bested him.
