B'Wana Beast is a hero in the DC Universe.

Origin
Upon graduation from college, Mike Maxwell became a game warden in Africa, working alongside his roommate, Rupert Kenboya, a native to that country. When a bolt of lightning struck their plane and caused them to land on Mount Kilimanjaro, they took refuge in the cavern home of a red ape. While in the cave, Mike drank some of the mineral water from a spring in the cave, and the magic of the water caused him to become stronger and faster then before, as well as giving him the fireceness of a jungle beast. Managing to subdue the ape, Mike was given a red helmet by the beast, and discovered that it enabled him to hear the thoughts of animals, and merge two animals of different spieces into a single chimera. With these new powers at his disposal, Mike became B'Wana Beast, the protector of Africa.
In the episode Gorillas In Our Midst B'Wana Beast takes a starring role as he and his fiance Vixen take of Gorilla Grodd's invasion army along side Batman and Detective Chimp.
In the two part epiosde The Siege of Starro, B'Wana Beast is one of the heroes that answers Batman's distress call. Initially he is looked down upon for his seemingly useless abilities, except by Captain Marvel who finds his abilities 'cool'. When The Faceless Hunter takes interest, B'Wanna Beast is puzzled what could be so special about him. After Starro is defeated, The Faceless Hunter kidnaps B'Wanna Beast and uses him to join all the starro clones in a giant starro controlled by the Faceless Hunter. In the end B'Wanna Beast sacrifices himself to destroy the creature using every last ounce of his power to tear it apart but killing himself in the process.

- B'Wana Beast's helmet enables him to both communicate and control animals, and create chimeras from two different animals

Weaknesses
The duration of B'Wana Beast's powers depends on how much mineral water he has drank. He does not have this weakness in the show.
